2006
Hello Happy Creative Heartbeats,
So much has been happening at the studio so lets
just get straight into it.
The
Greek Festival of Sydney
is about to start and
the Studio is part
of the festivity. We
have a special one
day event on Sunday
April the 9th from
10am - 4pm. Come to
the studio and have the
opportunity to lay
in a piece of smalti
(or two) and become
one of the many hands
that have particpated
in creating the Byzantium
reproduction Virgin
Mary.
We are nearing the compeltion of this work so this
will be the last opportunity for the public to
get involved before instalation.
However, once the Virgin is up - a reproduction
Byzantium of Jesus Christ begins.

the calender for the next Mosaic MAdness
weekend workshop - the foundation course
at www.mosaicmadness.com.au
What
is a Mosaic Bottega Workshop?
Its a 6 weekly course held on Tuesday mornings
between 9.30 - 12.30pm and costs $225.00.
Each
6 week period is an exercise in the mosaic
artform to further your knowledge and ability
to create works using marble, smalti,
glass, unglazed tiles, millefiore and more.
Its about exploring your imagination, developing
technical skilss and furthering your art knowledge.
Our
February Bottega Class was about working
in 2D, discovering our personal source for
inspiration and understanding colour.
How did we do that?
We began with a shape from nature and mindmapped
it. Some of the ideas that were explored by the
class were a Peakcock Feather, Tree Trunk
and Sea Urchin.
Here's one of the mindmaps (yes we did more than
one mondmap) for the Sea Urchin project which
was worked on by Judy.

Intermittently
we did a variety of colour
exercises using acrylic
paints. As we did we began
to build our 2D shape.
Once that was dry, Judy
played with tonal variations
and used a variety of material
to begin working the surface
of her project. This is
an aerial view of her Sea
Urchins.

Mosaic Bottega
IV runs Tuesdays 10am
- 1pm - May 2, 9, 16, 23,
30 and 6th June.
This course
is for students who are
committed to furthering
their artistic potential
in the mosaic artform.
If
you would like to apply

an application form to
you.
