ASB Sculpture Course

The long awaited sculpture class has arrived and its a 12 week course to be run in 4 week blocks starting Wednesday 4th May, 2005.

The first 4 weeks you will work in clay with me completing a portraiture. The second 4 weeks you will work in Hebel block with Alan Somerville (he completed the large bronze Anzac on Anzac bridge), completing a portraiture. And the last 4 weeks, again with Alan, again a portraiture but this time in marble.

Only 8 places are available in this course and its already half filled so hurry if you would like a space. Cost is $525 exclusive of model fees and materials.

Mosaic Association of Australia Symposium ...

The Mosaic Association of Australia is proud to announce the inaugural Mosaic Symposium and Exhibitions. You don't have to be a member to either attend the Symposium or participate in the exhibitions. Pop into the website www.mos-oz.org to find out more.

SYDNEY: 20 May - 3 June, Arterial Gallery, 747 Darling Street, Rozelle.

Official Exhibition Launch on Friday evening 20 May.

MELBOURNE: 18 - 22 May, stART Community Art Space, Collingwood.

Official Launch on Wednesday evening 18th of May.

SYMPOSIUM 2005: Saturday 21st of May at Balmain Tigers, Rozelle.
This is a one day event and includes speakers from all over Australia and also New Zealand, including David Jack (Melb), Helen Bodycomb (Melb), Scott Harrower (Byron), Brett Campbell (Bris), Janet Keen (NZ), Steven Vella (Syd), Dominic Peters (Syd), Sandy Robertson (Brisb) and Nola (Syd).

Tickets will be $165 for members and $195 for non members and includes:

Admission to the Exhibition Launch, Arterial Gallery, 747 Darling Street, Rozelle, on the even of Friday 20th May
Admission to Symposium 2005 on Saturday 21st May
Admission to the Cocktail Celebration, Arterial Gallery, 747 Darling Street, Rozelle, finger food and live entertainment on the evening of Saturday 21 May.

EDUCATION: Hammer & Hardie Workshop - Frank Colussi

Frank Colussi has studied the Ravenna School and Vatican School methods and is a master at classical cutting techniques using the hammer and hardie. Frank will teach you cutting techniques using this tool and working with a variety of materials - not just glass!

Sydney: Rozelle on Sunday the 22^nd of May. Two x 3 hour workshops. Numbers strictly limited and exclusive to Mos-Oz members. Workshop fee: $45 and includes all materials.

I have sent over a painting of VESNA to exhibit in the VI.Women`s International Conference 2005 being held in Graz Vienna. The Exhibition is titled Women and Migration ... pop in and browse the site ... there is another Australian artist exhibiting there too. www.womens-international-conference.com

Community Mosaic Projects

The Studio is now involved in two community projects. One is for the Greek Orthodox Church in leichardt called St Gerasimos and the other is for the Aged peoples Home in Earlwood.

For the first project we are completing three reproduction Byzantium Images of The Virgin, Jesus and of course the Patron Saint Gerasimos - all in smalti.

For the second project, we are mosaicing a one square metre Antiquity Owl

for the dining room of the Aged Peoples Home.

We run a few three hour sessions per week on these projects and slowly is coming together.

If you would like to be part of it please email me with Community Mosaic Projects in the subject box and i will add your email to the group list which keeps everyone informed about session times and special activities (like the kids day we are planning to have shortly where we will supervise the kids to lay in some tiles).

You dont need any experience to be part of these projects.

On Sunday July 9th I will be in Melbourne to be part of a new workshop called More To Life. This is an offshoot of Kaye Fallick's book called Get A New Life. Its a one day program with several presenters focused on empowering you to create the life you want (I'm just one of them).
